Why didn’t the drivers receive the Pirelli trophy in Austin

But where did Heroo go? Highly anticipated, the Pirelli trophy planned for this United States Grand Prix, the result of the collaboration with the Italian artist and designer Matteo Macchiavelli, ultimately did not see the light of day. The little man who was to reward the three drivers present on the podium on Sunday was missing.

The winner Charles Leclerc and his companions, Carlos Sainz and Max Verstappen, received another trophy, in a silver cylindrical shape, which did not fail to appeal to spectators on social networks. Behind the scenes, Pirelli was ordered to withdraw its awards at the last minute. The trophy in the shape of a mouse-headed man, called “Heroo”, had similarities with the Bearbrick sculpture brand. But not only that, since some have also reported a certain resemblance to Mickey but also LEGO figurines. When in doubt, the Italian manufacturer did not take any risks and decided to withdraw it.

It remains to be seen what will happen to sales since Pirelli had initially planned a limited edition production for collectors.
