Spanked in Castres on Saturday for the 7th day of Top 14, the SFP continues its poor start to the season. Toulon, Perpignan and Clermont beat Montpellier, Lyon and Vannes respectively.
Nothing is going well at the Stade Français. The Parisians of new head coach Paul Gustard were largely beaten in Castres (35-13) on Saturday for the 7th day of Top 14, while the Tarnais were reduced to 14 in the 20th minute of play after the Fijian’s red card Adrea Cocagi.
With this fifth defeat in seven matches, Stade Français is in 13th place. The CO enters the top 6.
Stunned after its defeat against Stade Toulousain last weekend, ASM Clermont raised its head in style by scoring nine tries against Vannes (55-33). ASM is provisionally placed in 5th place in the championship, while the Breton promotion is at the bottom.
After two consecutive defeats, RC Toulon struggled to beat Montpellier (30-17) at Mayol. A valuable success which allows the Varois to rank 4th in the championship. The MHR loses one place and finds itself 12th.
Finally, Perpignan offered itself a nice victory on its lawn against Lyon (29-26), despite a big match from the untenable Baptiste Couilloud. A great operation for Usap which climbs back to 11th place in the championship, while Lyon misses the opportunity to be the new runner-up to UBB. With the defensive bonus point, LOU ranks 8th.
