Rape, sexual assault, tax fraud… The forfeiture of Wissam Ben Yedder judged on Tuesday

Footballer Wissam Ben Yedder will be tried on Tuesday October 15 for sexual assault while drunk. Already convicted of tax fraud, the former French international has a number of legal cases.

How long will the fall of Wissam Ben Yedder last? At the end of his contract at AS Monaco last June, the 34-year-old striker is still without a club. Not because of his sporting decline, but rather because of his legal troubles. The former French international (19 caps, 3 goals) will appear this Tuesday before the court for sexual assault while drunk. February 2023: Ben Yedder buys a woman’s silence

Wissam Ben Yedder got married at the end of 2021 and had a child six months later. However, many rumors of infidelities circulate, and his alcoholic parties are an open secret. According to a long investigation by the newspaper The Team published in July 2023, the attacker paid 1.6 million euros to a woman five months earlier, in February. This is the outcome of an affair initiated in September 2022, when Ben Yedder, with a friend, met two women in a bar in Monaco.

Later in the evening, the man who wore the ASM jersey between 2019 and 2024 would have started a sexual relationship with one of the two women. Mutual consent according to Ben Yedder, not according to the young woman, who would have agreed to give up in exchange for a sum of money. After months of exchanges and nebulous negotiations, Ben Yedder allegedly had the sum transferred via the account of Jérôme de Bontin, former president of AS Monaco, reports The Team. The player says he was manipulated by those around him. After this affair, he separated from Meïssa N’Diaye, his agent for more than ten years.

April 2023: six months in prison for tax fraud

On Tuesday April 11, 2023, the Seville court sentenced Wissam Ben Yedder to six months suspended prison sentence and a fine of 133,798 euros for tax evasion. The French striker, who is accused of various omissions and falsifications, played for Sevilla FC between 2016 and 2019.

August 2023: indicted for rape, attempted rape and sexual assault

In July 2023, two women filed a complaint against him and his little brother, Sabri. A month later, Wissam Ben Yedder was indicted for “rape, attempted rape and sexual assault”. A judicial investigation is open against him. The attacker was released after paying bail of 900,000 euros. He denies the accusations. The file is still under investigation.

February 2024: his ex-wife files a complaint

Wissam Ben Yedder and his wife separated in May 2023. The divorce proceedings are not going well. In February 2024, the player’s ex-wife filed a complaint. She denounces psychological and economic violence and threats of physical violence. Ben Yedder is in police custody on May 31, 2024. He must be tried by the Nice court on December 27 for “psychological violence resulting in total incapacity for work for more than eight days on his wife”.

September 6, 2024: accusation of sexual assault and police custody

Although without a club for two months, Ben Yedder still resides in the south of . On September 6, he was arrested after a woman accused him of sexually assaulting her in the player’s car. He refuses to comply and ends up in police custody. He receives an immediate appearance summons on October 15 for “sexual assault while clearly intoxicated, refusal to comply and driving under the influence of alcohol”.
