Set to last in MotoGP, with Honda, Zarco announces 1 crucial deadline – Le Mag Sport Auto

In recent weeks, the Honda adventure seems to be moving towards the good side, for Johann Zarco in MotoGP. Indeed, the Frenchman increasingly appreciates his role and continues to develop his relationship with the Japanese firm. Becoming, day after day, the brand’s great reference, both on and off the track. Thus, since its victory at Suzuka last summer, the tricolor has found a second wind, although the road to the podium is still long.

MotoGP: Johann will discuss with Lucio at the start of 2025

Regardless, this renewed form makes Johann want to continue his contract, beyond the 2025 season. Something he has already discussed with Lucio Cecchinello, as he reveals (source Motorsport). Sharing, also, a deadline to finalize things with Team LCR.

“Already for me, I am happy to feel that I have taken a second wind which makes me want to do more than two years at Honda. Because I like this new mission, even if it is sometimes frustrating due to the lack of results. The Suzuka, which was not planned, which was not even in my head last year, to have done it and to have won it was super cool, it also strengthened the links with Honda I think.”confirms number 5 in the MotoGP field.

“As a result, I am motivated to further strengthen the links, more and more, with Honda, because this is what will allow us to build a kind of long-term relationship, and even a little more long-term performance. , whereas I didn’t even have that in mind last year knowing that I was going to Honda. In my head it was already two years ago, but I didn’t know what to expect. I am in the position of what I could have imagined, which is to say struggling, but in fact with a lot more motivation and positivity than I could have imagined.”

Then Zarco concludes “With Lucio, we have already worked hard on this. So, there is my 2025 contract already in place. We can already discuss the future but the future will be discussed more at the beginning of 2025 than at the end of 2024.”

We also imagine that these discussions will also depend on the future of LCR on the engine side, since the contract with Honda has still not been renewed, beyond the 2024 MotoGP season.
