Tuchel, future coach of the England team?

The former PSG coach could succeed Gareth Southgate and Lee Carsley at the helm of the Three Lions.

After Mauricio Pochettino at the head of the United States, another former PSG coach seems to be on the verge of taking charge of a national team. And not that of his native country. According to information from BildThomas Tuchel is in negotiations with the English federation with a view to taking the reins of the reins of the Three Lions, beaten by Greece (1-2) Thursday at Wembley, in the League of Nations. If necessary, he would succeed interim coach Lee Carsley, the latter having himself taken over from Gareth Southgate after the (lost) final of Euro 2024 in Germany.

Aged 51, Thomas Tuchel is obviously not unknown on the other side of the Channel. His name has also come up insistently on the Manchester United side in recent hours, in the event of Erik ten Hag’s ouster. After Mainz, Dortmund and PSG, the Bavarian technician coached Chelsea for a year and a half, from January 2021 to the summer of 2022. He guided the Blues to the final victory in the Champions League in 2021, he who has been free since the end of his mandate at the head of Bayern Munich. Remember that the England team has only one title to its name, the 1966 World Cup. Tuchel would become the third foreign coach on the bench of the “Three Lions” after the late Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello.
