Liechtenstein won its first match since 2020

THE SPORT SCAN – The nation ranked 203rd in the Fifa rankings won a friendly match against Hong Kong this Thursday.

It is a day of celebration for Liechtenstein. This small European nation of nearly 40,000 inhabitants won its first meeting since 2020. The Blues-Reds won in a friendly against Hong Kong (1-0), who were favorites at the start of the match and ranked 157th in the Fifa rankings.

At the Rheinpark Stadion in Vaduz in the capital of Liechtenstein, Konrad Funfstuck’s players opened the scoring after a quarter of an hour of play thanks to their captain, Nicolas Hasler. Since the defeat against San Marino last September, Liechtenstein had become the nation with the longest losing streak. A happy end to the series for this team which will face Gibraltar on Sunday in the Nations League. In the meantime, fans celebrate this historic victory for this small nation.
