Former president of the Professional Football League, Frédéric Thiriez was appointed president of the National Ethics Council (CNE) by the executive committee of the French Football Federation on Thursday, AFP reported from reliable sources.
Thiriez, president of the LFP from 2002 to 2016, who replaces Patrick Anton, a lawyer like him, and former referee, at the head of the CNE, was chosen in June 2024 by Philippe Diallo, the president of the FFF, to lead a mission in overseas territories.
The National Ethics Council has the possibility of referring the matter to the disciplinary committees of the LFP or the FFF when a football player behaves badly, in actions or words, on and off the field.
