Alessandro Alunni Bravi took over as Stake Sauber representative in 2023, making him the main executive to speak on behalf of the team at Grand Prix weekends. He will leave the team at the end of January, to make way for the future arrival of Jonathan Wheatley as director, expected at the beginning of April.
In addition to his role as representative, Alunni Bravi has also held the position of general director of the team since 2022, which then raced under the identity of Alfa Romeo. It was also following the departure of Frédéric Vasseur to Ferrari that he was propelled as a leading figure. Previously, he joined the board of directors of Sauber in 2017 following the acquisition of the structure by the investment fund Longbow Finance.
“The end of my career at Sauber is an emotional moment”said Alunni Bravi. “Since my arrival in 2017, I have seen this team grow and change beyond what anyone could have imagined. This organization has gone through both exciting and difficult times, all without ever losing its spirit and his involvement, which I find inspiring, and I am proud to have been the public face of the team over the last two years.”
“As I turn my attention to a new project, I would like to thank Finn Rausing [le milliardaire à la tête de Longbow Finance]everyone who trusted me at Sauber and Audi, as well as all the colleagues I have worked with over the last eight years. This team is a family and they have a bright future ahead of them.”
This change adds to the various moves in recent months at Stake Sauber, as the company prepares to become the official Audi team in 2026. Appointed operations director and chief technical director of Sauber Motorsport AG last year , Mattia Binotto also has a word for the Italian.
“Having worked closely with him in the months since my arrival at Hinwil, I would like to pay tribute to Alessandro, a true team player who has come to embody the essence of Sauber over the years. Alessandro has played a large number of roles within the team, guiding it through difficult times and through strong times. As he embarks on a new adventure, the entire company would like to thank him for his energy and contribution. over the years and wish him the best for the future.”
