Formula 1 | Perez breaks silence after Red Bull Racing ouster

Sergio Perez has spoken publicly for the first time about losing his seat at Red Bull Racing.

The Mexican was ousted by his team for lack of sufficient performance, and he will be replaced by Liam Lawson this year.

For his first words, Perez did not wish to elaborate on the conditions of his departure, Christian Horner having revealed that he would remain within the Red Bull family to perform certain shows at the wheel of a former (and perhaps -be other things to define).

“Everything happened very quickly at the end of last season, I didn’t expect to leave the team,” he said again today, when all the speculation was against him.

Will he seek to make 2025 a simple sabbatical year?

“It is too early to give an answer as to whether I plan to return to Formula 1.”

“My priority is to take time for myself, to enjoy myself, to do things I haven’t done yet, to be with my family. In the next six months I will make a decision on what I want as the next step in my career.”

“Because in F1, all you think about is becoming a better driver and wanting to prepare better. Then you don’t have time for anything else.”
