The Alpine Formula One Team will contest the FIA Formula 1 World Championship with Grand Prix winner Pierre Gasly and F1 debutant Jack Doohan under the leadership of Team Principal Oliver Oakes and Executive Advisor Flavio Briatore at the 2025 season to come.
This week, the team based in Enstone, Great Britain, announced that it had reached an agreement with the Williams team to secure the services of young Argentinian driver Franco Colapinto, who was previously under contract with Williams and with who he competed in his first Grands Prix in 2024, not without getting noticed.
The 21-year-old will be test and reserve driver during the 2025 season of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship but already represents a real threat to young Jack Doohan, starting this season in the starting seat , and having fewer commercial advantages and in terms of popularity than the young rising South American star.
“I am extremely happy to have the opportunity to join BWT Alpine Formula One Team. I would firstly like to thank Williams for all their support from my arrival in the Academy to the last race in Abu Dhabi. They have made my Formula 1 dreams come true, and I will always be grateful to them.”greets the Argentine pilot.
“It is now time to write a new chapter, and taking on this challenge with BWT Alpine Formula One Team is a true honor. A huge thank you to Luca [de Meo]Flavio [Briatore] and Oliver [Oakes] to believe in me and welcome me into the team with open arms. I can’t wait to get started and see where this adventure takes us. I also thank all the sponsors and partners who supported me in my challenges during the 2024 season. Your support made all of this possible, and “¡Muchas gracias!” to my incredible fans in Argentina. Your passion and encouragement mean a lot to me. Let’s aim for even greater things in 2025 and beyond.”
Bought by the Benetton family in 1986, the team now known as Alpine moved to Enstone in Oxfordshire in 1992, where it is still based today. Renault took over the Italian structure in 2000 and has since renamed it Alpine F1. The team has a rich heritage with a total of seven world titles, with Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso among the drivers [1994, 1995, 2005 et 2006] and among manufacturers [1995, 2005 et 2006]. Its fiftieth and most recent success took place at the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix. The team narrowly saved a 2024 season that was off to a poor start by notably signing two podiums at the very end of the season to finally place sixth in the constructors’ championship.
