The former boss of the Toro Rosso team (now Racing Bulls), Franz Tost, said he was very happy with Red Bull Racing's choice to start one of the young drivers in the sector to accompany Max Verstappen.
But the Austrian has some important advice for Lawson.
“It's good to see a young person from the sector established, it proves that the sector works. Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson both deserved the promotion.”
“It was Liam who was chosen and, knowing Christian Horner and Helmut Marko well, they did it with all the data in hand.”
“All I can say about Liam is that he must do everything he can and never try to compete with Max Verstappen. Max is one of the greatest of all time, same title as Michael Schumacher and Ayrton Senna.”
“Max is still far from reaching his peak and his ability is endless. He now also has the self-confidence of a four-time world champion.”
“If you try to exceed your limits, it will go badly. That's why Liam should only think about himself and try to improve the car with Max. Any other approach would be fatal and doomed to failure. “
