Formula 1 | Haas takes 6th place from Alpine thanks to Hulkenberg

Nico Hulkenberg helped Haas regain 6th place in the constructors' championship at Alpine F1 in Las Vegas.

Something expected with the current form of both teams but the great form of Pierre Gasly could have made things much more complicated without the withdrawal of the Frenchman, who was aiming for big points.

“I'm very happy. I think eighth place is the best result we could get today, being the fifth best team in terms of pace ahead of Alpine and Aston,” comments Hulkenberg.

“It was a clean, well-executed race and as expected, it was very difficult on the tire side with the graining, especially at the front. That worried everyone, but we did well and got through it. We stood out a little from our main competitors, which worked well. Our pace was also good.

Kevin Magnussen tried, and it was the only, only one save! A real feat but not very rewarding in the end.

“We made only one stop, which was not the right thing in my opinion, and that's why we are 12th. The pace was good with the hard tires, but bad with the graining with the mediums. We struggled but we kept going, and we lost everything, so we had to get back on the hard ones. We didn't feel like we made the most of it.”
