Max Verstappen (Red Bull), leader of the Formula 1 world championship with 62 points ahead of Lando Norris (McLaren), has a first chance to win his 4th consecutive world champion title this weekend at the Grand Prix of Las Vegas.
To keep his world crown in the streets of the city of gambling, the Dutchman must not give up more than two points to his British rival, while 60 points will remain to be distributed at the end of this 22nd round (out of 24) of the season.
If he succeeded, the pilot Red Bull 27-year-old would join the German Sebastian Vettel and the French legend of the discipline Alain Prost.
The scenarios for a title for Verstappen in Las Vegas:
– If Verstappen finishes ahead of Norris
– If Norris finishes second (18 points) and Verstappen finishes 3rd and takes the bonus point for the best lap (15 points + 1 = 16 points)
– If Norris finishes third (15 points) and Verstappen finishes 4th and takes the bonus point for the best lap (12 points + 1 = 13 points)
– If Norris finishes 4th (12 points) and Verstappen finishes 5th without the best lap bonus (10 points)
– If Norris finishes 5th (10 points) and Verstappen finishes 6th without the best lap bonus (8 points)
– If Norris finishes 6th (8 points) and Verstappen finishes 7th without the best lap bonus (6 points)
– If Norris finishes 7th (6 points) and Verstappen finishes 8th without the best lap bonus (4 points)
– If Norris finishes 8th (4 points) and Verstappen finishes 9th without the best lap bonus (2 points)
– If Norris finishes beyond 8th place (without the best lap bonus if he finishes 9th), what does Verstappen's result matter.
