Lewis Hamilton has revealed the reason he no longer buys supercars and overpriced cars. The Mercedes F1 driver bought the Mercedes One hypercar a few years ago, but he no longer feels like a collector and has even sold several of them.
While he will join Ferrari and will have access to very beautiful sports cars, will he benefit from it like Charles Leclerc who orders almost every new thing from the Scuderia? Not really…
“The last car I bought was the Project One” Hamilton said. “Of course, I always look at cars at home to see what comes out. But honestly, most cars today look the same. Something is missing.”
“Old classic cars are the ones I would look at. If I had to buy another car, it would probably be an old classic car, for the sound, for the emotion. There aren't many brands today that embody this emotion. It’s not the same thing.”
Now, he explains what interests him: “I'm more interested in art now, so that's the kind of thing I would indulge in, is discovering new artists, and I particularly like black artists who come from Africa, for example. So that's what I generally buy.”
