Eddie Jordan was rather defeatist about Sergio Pérez's future in the Formula for Success podcast, which he shares with David Coulthard. The Irishman is convinced that the Red Bull driver will be sidelined at the end of the season despite his contract, and he thinks that Red Bull will choose Lawson.
“The person that stood out to me, and I have to be honest again, was Lawson, he’s serious.” Jordan said. “He drove with a lot of pressure and he knows how to handle himself. He didn't have the car that others had, but he showed a level of skill that impressed me a lot. He is ready for 2025.”
“Pérez has had how many chances now? Do you think he'll get a steering wheel next year, David? No chance. Not a chance. He's a lovely guy. But we know lovely boys don't win prizes. Grand Prix Whereas Lawson, he’s part of the family, and he should be in this car.”
Brought to respond to his friend's comments, Coulthard went in the same direction and thinks that Red Bull's decision has already been made regarding Pérez: “Well listen, I'm not going to disagree with the fact that Checo is a lovely guy.”
“He has won Grands Prix. He has been a loyal servant, as the team has been to him. But unless something happens in the next three races that can give certainty that “It's just a problem with this car, so it's very clearly written for him.”
