Max Verstappen, winner of the Brazilian Grand Prix last weekend, openly mocked the English press in a post-race conference.

The Red Bull driver was rather teasing with the British journalists during the press conference following the race and the podium. The latter had not won a Grand Prix for several months and broke this long series by winning in style in Sao Paulo.

Starting from 17th place on the starting grid, the three-time reigning World Champion displayed his driving talent on a wet track, to finally win one of the most important and memorable races of his career.

Max Verstappen is now 62 points ahead of Lando Norris (his Championship rival) who finished sixth in Sao Paulo. The British driver from the McLaren team therefore sees his title hopes slip away, all with just three race weekends remaining before the end of the season.

Accompanied by Pierre Gasly as well as Esteban Ocon at a press conference, Max Verstappen was amused by the few people present in the interview room.

« I have a quick question to ask” Verstappen said in the post-race press conference. “ I mean, I appreciate you all being here… but I don't see any British press…«

“They must be running to the airport, or maybe they don't know where the press conference is?” »

Laughter then broke out in the room, laughter coming from journalists and pilots alike.

Pierre Gasly even declared: “That’s a good question.”

For several weeks, the wind seemed to be turning in the wrong direction for Max Verstappen. In fact, he saw his lead in the Championship diminish, and accumulated bad gestures and bad maneuvers on the track. In Mexico, the Batavian even received two penalties of ten seconds each.

But in Sao Paulo, the three-time World Champion made the talk and put the church back in the middle of the village. We went from a situation where Lando Norris seemed to be out to bring down the Red Bull driver, to a possible fourth consecutive coronation for Max Verstappen at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. So in , it's not just the single-seaters that go fast.
