Formula 1 | Aston Martin F1 ‘focuses’ on 2025 single-seater

Aston Martin F1 has already drawn a line under its 2024 season and is preparing the development of the future AMR25 which will run next year. It was the team director, Mike Krack, who revealed this, while the teams will focus from January on the transition to the new regulations planned for 2026.

“We have had to focus on the future for several weeks already” explained Krack. “It is obvious that the production deadline for the upcoming parts was signed some time ago. For now, we are focusing on the year 2025.”

The Luxembourger also explains that the Silverstone team needs to progress on the operational level and that this is being worked on in all areas: “There are a lot of metrics you use to check where you are, if you’re progressing, if you’re not progressing. For example, pit stops.”

“When we started in 2022 to put these measures in place, we set targets and we see where we are, we clearly see the progress in terms of consistency and speed. We are also making fantastic starts. There are a lot of positives. With a lot of process, we are making good progress.”

Tom McCullough, Aston Martin’s performance director, explained why the end of the 2024 season can no longer be a priority: “Right now, we’re in a phase where we’re very busy with a lot of things. Compared to other teams, we literally just moved into buildings 2 and 3 of our new campus.”

“We have meetings with Honda, face-to-face meetings, because we are very focused on what we are doing for 2026. This is also a phase where the workload for the 2025 car really accelerates. In fact, the development of the 2024 car is declining.”

McCullough concluded by highlighting the range of tasks to be handled in this phase: “Whether it’s human resource assessments or cars going faster, we have a lot to do.”
