THE SPORTS SCAN – The Stade Toulousain scrum-half will spend a few days across the Atlantic before returning to competition at the start of October.
Winner of the Top 14 and the European Cup with Toulouse and Olympic gold medalist with the French Rugby 7s team, scrum-half Antoine Dupont will return to competition “early October”in his own words, after participating in training with the Red and Blacks while he was still on vacation. This Monday, he was voted best player in the Top 14 and best French international of the 2023-24 season during the Nuit du Rugby organized at the Olympia.
In the process, the Gersois packed his bags to go and spend a few days in the United States, as he posted on his account Instagram with, on his back, a jersey of Philip Rivers, the former quarterback of the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers between 2004 and 2019. Immediately, several of his teammates in Toulouse responded to his post in a humorous tone. On Monday evening, Antoine Dupont himself confided: “I’m only 27 years old and I still have years of career and things to gain.” It is not certain, however, that he will attempt to retrain in the NFL as did the former Welsh winger Louis Rees-Zammit who, after being rejected by the Kansas Chiefs, tried to join the squad of the Florida franchise Jacksonville Jaguars.
