An experienced, efficient and collective climber

Capable of shining individually – 6th and winner of a stage on the Tour of Italy 20222e Tour of Oman an 8th you Giro this year – the slender climber also knows how to become the perfect lieutenant in the mountains, as he did recently on the Tour de France in support of Remco Evenepoel. A significant loss for Patrick Lefevere and the double Olympic champion in the mountain pole developed around the Belgian, and certainly a major reinforcement for the Israeli team to perform in stage races and Grand Tours.

Statements by Jan Hirt and the staff of Israel-Premier Tech

Jan Hirt :

“I see how Israel-Premier Tech is improving every year and I believe in the future of the team. I am really happy to be a part of it for the next two years. I would like to support the team in tough stage races where I can use my previous experience. My main goal will be to strengthen the team in the Grand Tours, so I am looking forward to the next chapter with IPT.”

Kjell Carlström, general manager:

“Jan Hirt is a great addition. He is the type of rider who works selflessly for his teammates but also takes on a leadership role when given the opportunity. His second place overall at this year’s Tour of Oman and eighth place at the Giro d’Italia are testament to that. We look forward to giving him more opportunities when he joins us next year, particularly in the Grand Tours and stage races. Jan will also be a great mentor to the team’s up-and-coming riders.”

Sylvan Adams, owner of IPT:

“I am delighted to welcome Jan Hirt to our team. Jan is a talented and versatile rider who brings depth and experience to our team. Jan will compete in classics, week-long stage races and Grand Tours, where he can challenge for stage wins and high overall positions, as he did at this year’s Giro d’Italia. Adding a strong rider like Jan will surely make us a better team next year.
