Scheduled for the end of November, but postponed because many volunteers were involved that day in other races, the Sailhet cyclo-cross was finally organized, Saturday January 18, in Lau-Balagnas.
And the conditions were met to perfect the organization of the Union Cycliste du Lavedan: a dry but pleasant cold, rather dry terrain too, and a very beautiful 2 km circuit traced by the volunteers of the UC Lavedan on the Sailhet site. A circuit that was both technical and physical, where it was necessary to use gear to avoid the numerous traps, certain passages requiring great driving skills, a very turning circuit which allowed no relaxation.
All categories combined, a little over a hundred runners were at the start, coming from all over the department but also from Pyrénées-Atlantiques and Landes. Among them, a large number in the MTB category, but also around fifteen women.
Throughout the afternoon, the races continued. The little ones aged 6 to 12 started the hostilities, then the different categories followed one another.
Hugo Dibos Lavit (Pau Vélo 64) wins in the 11-12 year old category ahead of three young locals from Pyrénissime Vélo Sport, Théo Campagnari (Tarbes Cycliste) in the 13/14 year old category, and Gaetan Aubier (Tarbes Cycliste) for the 15 category. /16 years ahead of Aubin Toureille-Valke of Pyrénissime.
-Among the young women, Noelie Maubec and Chloe Lopes, both from Pau Vélo 64, finished tied, while among the 13-14 year olds, Koyuki Montegut won and among the 15-16 year olds, it was Pauline Cres, both members of the Tarbes Cycliste Club.
In the adult category, Isabelle Chabot (AL Bleuets Tostats) won the event.
As for the mountain bikers, it was Clément Combis who won ahead of UCL rider Nicolas Sidiropoulos. Moreover, young and old, the pilots of Pyrénissime Vélo Sport, enjoyed these Sailhet singles that they know so well. In 4th category, Michel Dolie (Vélo Club Mazerois) wins. The 3rd category saw the victory of Claude Dazzan (Avenir Cycliste Bagnères-de-Bigorre) and Nicolas Dussaucy (Club Vélo Salies) won the race in the 2nd category.
Finally, with an interesting and strong field at the start, the first category saw the victory of Thomas Bareilles (Club Vélo Salies), a revelation of past years.
