Make stadium tours running when you're a schoolboy, it's good for youphysical educationbut if each stadium turn also increases the score by one fundraising to finance a solidarity actionit's still more concrete and more motivating. In any case, this is the educational bet that was made by the educational team of the Hyacinthe Langlois college of Pont-de-l'Arche with the establishment's five PE teachers, Ms. Simon, Ms. Lefebvre, Ms. Demare and M. Panero and Rimbaud who coordinated an interclass and solidarity challenge on October 21 with the support of the UNSS.
Delphine Martine, the principal of the college, summarizes the approach: “Every year, we do our cross country and this year, we decided that it would be united. Until now, we made a ranking, and then we decided that the students would be sponsored by their parents, grandparents, and friends. And it worked pretty well. The students ran a lot more than in other years,” like Sacha, 3rd C student, 2024 cross country champion, who ran the most laps.
Assistance dogs for the most vulnerable
Two months later, the time had come to distribute the proceeds of the collection in the presence of the young long-distance runners who, from 6th to 3rd grade, had contributed the most to the association prize pool sponsored by their loved ones. Selected in advance by the educational team, the associations selected were Handi Dogs et Cancers, the truth for our children whose action or local presence made sense for the middle school students.
Handi Chiens educates and provides free assistance dogs for people with disabilities and/or vulnerability. Her action was presented to the students by Ms. Crétu, delegate for Eure and Seine-Maritime for the association:
In your establishment, a few years ago, there was a young girl, Suzie, who was autistic. She was accompanied by her assistance dog, Gringo, thanks to whom she had managed to dare to come to college and attend school.
Means to finance analyzes
The association Cancers, the truth for our children is better known around Pont-de-l'Arche for its action of research into the causes of a local cluster of pediatric cancers. Manuella Ferreira, its treasurer, mother of a child in remission and doctor in microbiology explained: “The association was created here, near Pont-de-l’Arche, in Igoville in 2022. At one point, there had many children who had cancer at the same time and we wonder if our environment is not to blame. We analyze hair from children who are sick or not. We analyze the water in your canteen, the water you drink from your tap and the air you breathe too. The money you raised will allow us to do other analyzes because it is very expensive. For one child alone, the hair kit costs €450, and each time I analyze the water from your canteens or the water from your tap, it costs €1,500. So thank you very much.”
The solidarity cross at Hyacinthe Langlois college made it possible to raise 5 662€. €2,362 will be allocated to the Handi Chiens association and €3,280 to the Cancers, the truth for our children association.
