The National Technical Directorate has published the program of the French sprint team for the 2025 season. Five trips appear there: the World Championship, the European Championship and the three rounds of the Nations Cup. But an appointment is obligatory to claim selection for the European Championship (February 12 to 16) and the World Championship (October 22 to 26): participation in the French Championship in the individual speed events, keirin and kilometer. The French Championship will take place in Loudéac from January 3 to 5.
To be selected for team speed at the European and World Championships, one of the criteria is to participate in the French Championship in the three disciplines, speed, keirin and kilometer. The FFC will send a team to Santiago de Chile, for Men and Women, if it has demonstrated that it can reach the podium.
The selection for the European Championship in Zolder in individual speed, keirin and kilometer will take into account the results and behavior of the runners during the French Championship in January. For the kilometer, the French Champion will be automatically qualified. For Men, a minimum time of 1'01″50 will be required (1'01″000 for the World Championship) to qualify for selection (there will be two places per nation). This year, the double French Champion (keirin and kilometer) Tom Derache was not selected for the European Championship the following week.
On the other hand, the French Elite team's program does not provide for any participation in Grands Prix. Track riders, if they want to race and score UCI points, will have to participate with their team. The DTN sees the participation of riders in the UCI calendar as a way “to appreciate the involvement of athletes in the French team project“.
It remains to be seen who will establish these selections since Alexandre Prudhomme, interim coach of Pôle France, will leave his position at the end of the year (read here).
