We don’t cycle in semolina at the Vélo Club Langrois

The members of the Vélo Club Langrois met on Saturday evening at the Langres Town Hall to hold their general meeting. Many projects have been discussed, and everyone's eyes are turned to the future, notably with the question of the use of the Éponine space.

“Thank you all for being present this evening for our general meeting,” begins Jean-Marc Journiac, president of the Vélo Club Langrois. Before starting the agenda: arrival of new outfits, activity report for the past year, sports results, etc.; while looking to the future with the replacement of outgoing members or the mention of future projects, supported by a speech by Cyril Carcano, director of the City's Sports department, accompanied by Johan Simon, deputy mayor in charge Sports. “We have received the new club outfits and will distribute them this evening,” begins by proudly announcing the president of the association, not a little proud that this project has finally come to fruition. A project that has been thought about for several years, delayed by the health crisis, but which has allowed the club to find new trusted partners, with whom they plan to collaborate for a long time. Then for Jean-Marc Journiac to return to the many projects of the year: the Tour de operation, having allowed all those interested to ride on the Tour route before the passage of the peloton, a “friendly” moment where small and adults were able to have fun. Although it was a year identical to the previous one in terms of events, the association is proud to follow the progression of its number of licensees, which now welcomes, and as before the Covid, thirty registrants, “with 17 children, this which represents a rate of 56% of young people in the club, we are very proud of it,” recalls the president. In connection with the club's cycling school, Jean-Marc Journiac does not fail to point out that there are five supervisors for 30 licensees, “another source of pride”.

A great year for the club

After reminding that the club's management members had each received a jacket flocked with the club's name and logo, the president handed over to Fabrice Motz, treasurer of the association, for an update on the budget for the past year . While the moral and financial report was adopted by a majority, the association then congratulated its members who won races throughout the season. The floor was given to Johan Simon, Deputy Mayor of Langres who wished to recall and highlight the support of the City at their side, while thanking them for having organized an Eponine space event, “it is a place that will live again,” recalled the Langres elected official. Before giving the floor to Cyril Carcano, who congratulated the association for the development of their cycling school, which is very successful, with an increasing number of recruits. The general assembly ended with reflections on the evolution of the Cyclo-Cross des remparts, the strengthening of the team and the rebirth of the Departmental Committee. And a 2024 season which ends in style, with the Saints-Geosmes Cyclo-Cross on Sunday December 1st.
