Noémie Garnier could have a smile on her face at the finish of the sixth round of the Coupe de France, in Troyes. After having already taken 2nd place in Pierric, the member of Team Guevel Roadborn won a second national podium on Sunday in Aube (see ranking). She thus signs her fifth Top 10 in six rounds, for her “first real cyclo-cross season”. Definitely a satisfaction. “It went pretty well. I had a good start, I came out 4th. Then, I went at my own pace, hard, until the end. The places haven’t changed much”.
The end of the race was still punctuated by a great battle with the winner from the day before. “I came back to Anaïs (Morichon) for a while but she ended up making a comeback. She has more strength and power than me. I just couldn't hang it”. This podium allows him to take a good look at this weekend in the east, after a much less pleasant round on Saturday (12th). “The terrain didn’t suit me at all. There were way too many walking portions. Today (Sunday), we went Cycling (smile). It was better for me”.
So far, the 23-year-old athlete is satisfied with “good season” and hope “continue like this and finish on a good note during the last weekend of the Coupe de France”always relying on his experience as a mountain biker. “Obviously, these are efforts that come together.” If she does not yet know whether she will take part in one or more rounds of the World Cup – “it’s still unclear”Noémie Garnier in any case has in mind to end her season during the French Championship in Pontchâteau. “It will be in my region. I will try to finish with a medal”.
