In Rosporden, the Cyclos randonneurs of the city of ponds are looking for a new president

During the general assembly of the Cyclos randonneurs de la cite des étangs (CRCE) Friday evening, November 15, 2024, at the cultural center, in Rosporden, André Le Dû, president, welcomed Maryse and Roland Drouglazet, from Kemperle Rando, representing the Federation French hiking trail, and Yves Le Roy, from the Finistère Departmental Cycling Tourism Committee. In his speech, the president, in office for around fifteen years, announced that he would not seek a new mandate after the end of the season. “Make way for young people who are full of new ideas,” he encouraged them.

More than 120 members

André Le Dû also welcomed the dynamic of the club which has more than 120 members. The majority of members are domiciled in the urban community but the CRCE always attracts residents from neighboring municipalities, such as Scaër, Guiscriff, Le Faouët or even Saint-Évarzec or Quimper. “An attraction perhaps due to the moderate price of licenses, which are €42 for walking and €65 for cycling, the club's share being €11 per license. These amounts are made possible thanks to the financial contributions coming from the three ponds hike, the evening on the square in August, as well as some subsidies and sponsorship,” he noted.

Claude Boëdec, president of the cyclos, took the opportunity to recall the importance of respecting the highway code, as well as wearing light clothing, a fluorescent yellow vest as well as front and rear lighting, especially when visibility is poor. .

Successful summer hikes

Cathy Guillou, president of the walking section, welcomed the attendance at the weekly hikes on Sunday morning, however regretting the few participants in the Wednesday outings. “The summer hikes, organized on Wednesday evenings from May 1 to August 28, worked very well, with some 264 people in total, spread over the 17 itineraries offered with an average of 15 participants, licensed or not, locals and tourists “.
