On November 16, Gérardmer Cyclotourisme et Loisirs met in the town hall’s weapons room for its general meeting.
President Yves Toussaint opened the session alongside his office and the municipal councilor responsible for sports Jamel Ghomerani. He thanked the department, the municipalities of Gérardmer and Xonrupt and the various partners for their material and financial assistance. The club currently has 47 licensees and 18 members with an average age of 70 years, and although there is no shortage of volunteers, it is struggling to get younger. The club is very active and there are around thirty of them riding regularly. Outings take place twice a week, on Tuesday and Friday. Throughout the year, they participate in cycle touring weekends, organize events such as the bicycle exchange in April, the Lakes and Mountains hike and the Trace Vosgienne mountain bike hike in July or even vacation stays. a week: in Apt in Vaucluse last April…In winter, they go out on foot or on snowshoes or even go riding in the plains. “Everything is more beautiful on a bike” is their slogan.
For the 2024-2025 season, all of their organizations are renewed and a program is established for day, weekend or weekly outings. In 2025, the Cyclo will participate in the daffodil festival on April 6, organize its bicycle exchange on April 12 and its discovery and hiking trip to Alleyras (Haute-Loire) from May 24 to 31.
In this elective year the club renews its office by thirds and the president Yves Toussaint as well as the vice-president Yves Parisse are retiring. They are therefore looking for candidates, as well as “young retirees, or not” to expand their group of practitioners.
