A place for Juniors in N2 – News

The French Federation is bringing something new for Nationale 2. From next year, training centers approved by the FFC which request it will automatically obtain the N2 label. The team must be made up of Junior riders, numbering a maximum of 10. Juniors may hold an Elite, Open 1, 2 or 3 license.

A Training Center is a well-defined structure. It is certified as part of the Federal Performance Plan (PPF). Their specifications require that these high-level structures must be backed by the professional sector, to “prepare the rider for the demands of professional cycling and high-level cycling” and favor the dual project to offer an academic or professional qualification. In recent years, Chambéry Cyclisme Formation was the only training center recognized by the FFC, before being put on hold. Currently, only one training center is in operation. labeling course, that of the CIC U Atlantique, the Federation says.

But the Juniors already have other means of being incorporated into the declared squad of a National team. Since the 2023 licensing reform and the repeal of the distinction between Juniors and Seniors, a National club can integrate 17 and 18 year old riders with an Open 1 license into its workforce. For example, the regulations authorize two Juniors licensed in Open 1 in the declared squad of an N1 or an N3 and four for an N2.

The FFC also proposed to N1 clubs for the 2025 season to incorporate two Junior trainees for a maximum of 15 days of racing.
