Crazy salary for Evenepoel at Red Bull?

Thomas Siniecki, Media365: published on Monday November 4, 2024 at 9:42 p.m.

Red Bull – Bora – Hansgrohe, a new armada which notably recruited Primoz Roglic, does not intend to stop there.

Ten million euros per year and three team members of his choice, as well as his sports director Klaas Lodewyck: according to the Belgian media Het Laatste Nieuws, this is the contract that the Red Bull team would be ready to offer to Remco Evenepoel, he who is still linked for two years with Soudal – Quick Step but at only five million euros annually. When we know that Tadej Pogacar has just renegotiated his commitment to eight million per year with UAE Team Emirates, the Belgian runner's ears will inevitably ring. Will the recruitment of Valentin Paret-Peintre or even coach Frederik Broché, regular coach of the Belgian national team, be enough to keep the double Olympic champion in place beyond the next two seasons?

Lefevere: “Denk, I don’t like him”

It has already taken a certain effort to keep Mikel Landa, Ilan Van Wilder and Louis Vervaeke in the Wolfpack squad, of which Julian Alaphilippe will however no longer be a part of next year (the Frenchman has signed with Tudor). Still according to our Belgian colleagues, the decisive contribution of operational director Jurgen Foré made it possible to partially fill the financial deficit, which has widened because Remco Evenepoel has already benefited from a significant increase at Soudal – Quick Step.

Nevertheless, the world champion and winner of the 2022 Vuelta would not be against a change of scenery, and why not faster than expected, given all this new data which is intertwined… Patrick Lefevere, the truculent boss of the Belgian team, has already expressed his dissatisfaction with the methods of his colleague Ralph Denk: “On two occasions, he offered a contract with very high bonuses, which is not done with riders under contract . He did it once four years ago, and now he's doing it again Last week I heard he visited Tom Pidcock too, I don't like him. It's always quite tasty to receive lessons from Patrick Lefevere, so it's fair game…
