CYCLING. Gold for Bérénice Paul at the Caribbean championships

The Caribbean Championships began this Saturday (November 2) in Georgetown, the capital of Guyana.

And the good news came from Bérénice Paul, who won the title of Caribbean champion in the individual time trial.

At the end of the 36 km, the only representative of the Guadeloupe selection in this competition, Bérénice Paul was able to be the fastest in the event by adapting her strategy to be the big winner.

She succeeds Clémence Briche

Bérénice Paul, who dominated the Elite category among women, succeeds another Guadeloupean, Clémence Briche, who won last year.

Rony Marchthe technical manager of the selection, is proud of this first gold medal.

We had a great day with this great victory for Bérénice, who showed us her riding skills and her professionalism.

Pour Bérénice Paulthis gold medal represents a lot.

Already, it was an honor for me to be part of this selection and to be able to bring the butterfly of Guadeloupe to the highest step of the podium. That's all I wanted and that's what happened at the end of this time. The encouragement from my team and staff made me soar on this course.

However, it was not won for Bérénice Paul, who started the event with an ordinary bike and not a well-profiled time trial bike. Which put her at a disadvantage.

The great performance of Mathieu Pellegrin

Rony March also welcomes the great performance of Mathieu Pellegrin this Saturday.

Even if he finishes just off the podium, I'm very happy. It was very rolling. He showed us that he is still a very good person and that we can always count on him.

For men, in the Elite category, Mathieu Pellegrin was, in fact, unable to resist Bermuda's double, in order Conor White followed by outgoing champion Kaden Hopkins, very well known in Guadeloupe.

Note that this Sunday afternoon, Bérénice Paul tried over the 86 km to get another medal, after her victory in the individual time trial yesterday. But she ultimately finished in 4th place, just off the podium.

Among the men, on the other hand, no medal for the Guadeloupean delegation in the Elite men's category this Sunday. Damien Urcel, the best placed, finished in 5th place and Mathieu Pellegrin was 24th.
