Cycling. Chrono des Nations – Jakob Söderqvist above the rest in Espoirs

A traditional end-of-season event, the Chrono des Nations takes place this Sunday at Les Herbiers, in the Vendée department! Before the Elite Men’s and Women’s races, those concerning the Hopes and Juniors took place, and it was a Swede, an Irishman and a Belgian who climbed to the highest step of the podium. As for the U23 category, in which only the men had an event to compete, the victory went to Jakob Söderqvistthe world and European vice-champion of the specialty thus succeeding the Pole Kacper Gieryk.

A Frenchman and a Frenchwoman second in Juniors

The Swede of Lidl-Trek Future Racing left no chance for the competition, pushing back the Italian Luca Giaimi (UAE Team Emirates Gen Z) and the Belgian Jonathan Vervenne (Soudal Quick-Step Devo Team) at 48 seconds! The Irishman Adam Rafferty (Hagens Berman Jayco, + 57″) et le Belge Ferre Geeraerts (Basso Team Flanders, + 1’03”) completed the top 5 of this 2024 edition, while Maxime Laymondthe first Frenchman of the day, took sixth place (+ 1’09). In Juniors, Luca Vierstraete (AG Insurance-NXTG U19) et Seth Dunwoody (Cannibal – Victorious U19 Development Team) made their law reign on the course traced around the Herbiers. The Belgian and the Irishman both beat a Frenchman, in this case Amber Jouault (Vitrean CC) and Ellande Larronde (URT Vélo 64).
