Johan Le Bon will take over the presidency of Essor Breton

Young retiree from the pelotons, Johan Le Bon (34 years old) does not cut ties with cycling. On the contrary. “I want to give back to cycling what it gave me,” confides the man who, after his professional career (2009-2021), extended the pleasure into the amateur ranks. After hanging up at the end of 2023, the runner from Lannion threw himself into organizing: with his uncle (Luc Kerlouët), he set up a cyclo-cross in his town (via the Brélévenez marches) which had raised a great success last year, and he is actively preparing the second edition (December 21).

The Gilbert-Bousquet Grand Prix too

But Johan Le Bon is not going to stop there: he joined, this Saturday noon, the organizing committee of the Essor Breton, the oldest of amateur stage races, in order to take over, in a year, the presidency. . In 2025, the former professional will support Jean-Pierre Cann (at the head of the event for 14 years, he wanted to hand over) before taking over at the next general assembly. Johan Le Bon will also take control of the Grand Prix Gilbert-Bousquet, one of the great Finistère classics, on which Essor Breton depends.

That’s not all: the one who won… the Essor Breton in 2022 plans to launch a service company around the organizers of amateur and professional cycling races.
