The British Tom Pidcock will ultimately not participate in the Tour of Lombardy this Saturday. Initially designated team leader INEOS Grenadiershe was dismissed at the last minute. The rumors concerning his wish to change horizons, or the public criticism made towards his team, could be the cause.

Still under contract with INEOS Grenadiers until 2027, Pidcock however seemed in good shape, as evidenced by his second place in the Emilie’s Tower behind an untouchable Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) last weekend. The Olympic mountain bike champion was even the second favorite of the bookmakers for this Tour of Lombardy.
“I was removed from the selection for tomorrow’s Tour of Lombardy”announced Tom Pidcock on his social networks Friday evening. “However, I am in great shape and I was looking forward to competing in this race. My season is therefore ending earlier than expected. Thank you all for your support, even in difficult times.””
