Cycling. Transfer – Italian rider from Astana reserve joins World Tour

The 21-year-old Italian Alessandro Romele leaves the development teamAstana Qazaqstan Team to join the World Tour team for the next two years (2025-2026). Recently dolphin of Matthew Burgaudeau on the Tour d’Istanbul and the late Andre Drege during the Tour of Rhodes in Greece this season, Alessandro Romele joins a squad whose objective is to remain in the World Tour in 2025. He notably participated in several races with the World Tour team ofAstana Qazaqstan Team This year.

Alessandro Romele: “I’m looking forward to the start of the 2025 season with the whole team”

The Italian is the first rider of the Kazakh development team (Astana Qazaqstan Development Team) to sign in the World Tour this year: “The 2024 season has been incredible. I had the chance to combine races with the continental team and the Astana Qazaqstan team. This allowed me to gain significant experience which I am sure will ease my transition to the professional level. I think I obtained good results despite some health problems which forced me to miss the whole month of May, preventing me from entering several important races in top form. Nevertheless, I am very satisfied with my progress and I am grateful to the team for giving me the opportunity to work productively with a trainer and a nutritionist. I look forward to the start of the 2025 season with the entire Astana Qazaqstan team,” declares Alessandro Romele in the official statement from the Kazakh team.

The general director of theAstana Qazaqstan Teamthe former Olympic champion Alexander Vinokurovsees a lot of potential in Alessandro Romele : “Alessandro [Romele] had a very productive season with our development team, achieving victories and podiums. He also performed well in the races he ran with our main team. Even the last race, Paris-Tours, alongside the Astana Qazaqstan team, which took place in difficult weather conditions, revealed a lot about the potential of this rider. I think it’s the right time for Alessandro [Romele] to move on to the World Tour, and the experience he gained this year will help him adapt more quickly,” declares the Kazakh in the official press release of theAstana Qazaqstan Team.
