the essential
After Gruissan this summer, the Tour de France will return to Aude in Carcassonne on July 19 and 20, 2025. Ideally located on the road between the Pyrenees and the Alps, the city-prefecture has already hosted the Grande Boucle eight times for stage arrivals and 10 times for departures.
Nothing is yet official pending the final route which will only be revealed on October 29 at the Palais des Congrès in Paris by the Amaury Sport Organization (ASO) association, which organizes the Grande Boucle. But according to information revealed by our colleague L’Indépendant, Carcassonne should once again appear among the stage towns of the 112th edition of the Tour de France in 2025, with an arrival on July 19 and a departure the next day at the foot of the City. The city would welcome the runners and the caravan the day before, during the rest day.
Six stage starts in recent years
The Aude prefecture would therefore take up the torch after Gruissan, which hosted the rest day then the start of the 16th stage on July 15 and 16. A big return to the foot of the City since the city has already hosted six stage departures in 2004, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2021 and 2022, and four arrivals (2006, 2018, 2021, 2022).
