After the Junior and U23 road races of the Road World Championshipsplace for the Elites this weekend! It is the women who will open the ball on Saturday to determine who will succeed on the list of winners Lotte Kopecky and will wear the famous rainbow jersey for a year. The main stars of women’s cycling have gathered in Switzerland, and more precisely in Zurich, to compete over the 154.1 kilometers and nearly 2,400 meters of elevation gain of the Swiss course. The departure from Uster will be followed by a first loop of 30 km concluded by the climb to Binz (4.6 km at 4.5%) before joining the very hilly final circuit to be faced four times.

A new Vollering / Kopecky duel… and a chance of a French medal?
26.8 km long, this circuit includes two major difficulties in its first part: firstly the climb of Zürichbergstrasse (1.1 km at 8% / max 15%)followed in the wake of that of Witikon (2.3 km at 5.7 / max 9%). A few small bumps will still have to be overcome before going back down towards the center of Zurich. A very tiring route which will certainly allow the strongest of the day to emerge over the milestones covered. The punchers-climbers will be favorites for this 2024 edition, and Demi Vollering is logically placed at the top of the list given the difficulty of the course and his performance in the individual time trial last Sunday. Once again surrounded by a very beautiful Batavian armada with Marianne Vos, Pauliena Rooijakkers, Riejanne Markus or even Thalita de Jongthe reigning world vice-champion will aim for nothing other than a world title.
Her duel with the title holder Lotte Kopecky promises to be thrilling again.
