“It will do everyone good…”

Arnaud Demare seemed happy to be able to win at home: “Before the sprint, it was already a very tiring race with many attacks, so it’s true that this finale with a bend 300 metres away is not really what I like. I often came here leaving with a top 10 without being able to impose myself, today, it’s done in front of my family, my friends… To be able to win at home, my family and friends were there, so it’s true that it’s special… the 97th!”

The sprinter then returned to the sprint: “Before the sprint, there was a big race. Even with 3 kilometres to go, it was undecided. I went into the bend in 4th or 5th position and I launched from very far away, I felt like I could do it. It feels good, I had a sequence with a race in Belgium, here then another in Belgium, I wanted to win at least one and now it’s done, it will do everyone good.”
