A Gravel World Cup in Spain, 10 hours of driving and a victory at Grâce-Uzel… Clément Alleno’s incredible weekend

Grâce-Uzel Cyclo-cross

Taking part in a Gravel World Cup the day before in Girona, Spain (17th), alongside Valverde and his ilk, completing a ten-hour car rally, going to bed at five o’clock for a little nap and finding themselves on the podium in Grâce-Uzel… This was the “sporting” programme that Clément Alleno and Killian Tharrut had to offer themselves in 24 hours.

”With my road season over, I’m turning to other disciplines. Yesterday (Saturday), I qualified for the Gravel World Championships, in two weeks in Leuven (Belgium) and today (Sunday), I’m raising my arms for the first time as a professional, in a cyclo-cross at home. So, even if this weekend wasn’t easy, I had a lot of fun”, said Alleno, who put in a strong acceleration after ten minutes ”to test”, before starting a victorious solo ride.

Tharraut takes second place

If Alleno was on good form from the start, Killian Tharrut’s awakening was more laborious, before the regional gravel champion opened his eyes completely in the second part of the race, to secure the first runner-up, Matthieu Gaultier, completing the triumph of a trio of friends.

Note that Clément Alleno, at the end of his contract with his team Burgos-BH, will be returning for two more years as a professional, the announcement to be made shortly by his future team.
