A breakthrough in the case of the disappearance of Medhi Narjissi. Disappeared at sea in early August in Cape Town while he was training with the U18s of the French rugby team, the Stade Toulousain player has still not been found. Following a complaint filed by the young man’s parents, the Agen prosecutor’s office announced the opening of a “judicial investigation into a worrying disappearance”, entrusted to the interdepartmental management of the national police in Agen.

“In this procedural framework, the parents were heard; according to their knowledge of the facts, they were able to specify the conditions in which their son had been unable to return to shore, and had disappeared,” said Olivier Naboulet, the public prosecutor of Agen, in a press release. “The Agen public prosecutor’s office has contacted the investigating magistrate in order to inform in search of the causes of the disappearance.”

The Blues staff pinned by the parents

Without news of their son since August 7, Jalil and Valérie Narjissi believe that this disappearance “is not an accident”, but that it was “provoked”. “We have no answers even if we were able to conduct our investigation on site. We want to have transparency on what happened: why this place and why this disaster? We are devastated, we are waiting for justice to give us answers and for the guilty parties to take their responsibilities”, indicated Medhi Narjissi’s father on BFMTV on August 28.

The player of the Toulouse Stadium was swept away by strong currents while taking part in a recovery session on Dias Beach.
