The law comes into force this Thursday, January 23 and there is no doubt that it will please employees. The law extending the use of restaurant vouchers, granted as an exception since Covid, was published in the Official Journal this Wednesday, January 22.
It was extended until the end of 2026, with the government promising a reform to modernize the system quickly. Since January 1, 2025, it was no longer possible to buy food products in the supermarket that needed to be prepared, unlike directly consumable products such as sandwiches or salads.
Starting this Thursday, it's now possible and here's what you can buy with these titles.
Meat, fish, pasta, flour, fruits and vegetables…
According to service-public.frthe employee can pay for all or part of their meal with their meal vouchers in restaurants and similar businesses such as delicatessens, caterers, bakeries, supermarkets.
-You will therefore be able to continue to do your shopping such as pasta, butter, meat, fish, or even flour and yogurt, within the limit of 25 euros per day.
You can also use them at fruit and vegetable retailers.
The vouchers are valid for food that is immediately consumable or which will be used to prepare the employee's meal. Meal vouchers are valid until December 31, 2026 for the purchase of any food product, whether or not it is directly consumable.
