This moment of the day when you have to drink coffee to increase your life expectancy

If you want to increase your life expectancy, there is a specific time of day when you should drink coffee!

Coffee is a beverage loved by millions of people around the world. And the least we can say is that it is part of the morning rituals for many of us. Recent scientific studies have also revealed that the moment you consume this beverage can play a role a very important role in your life expectancy.

The benefits of coffee

Low in calories, rich in antioxidant polyphenols and with diuretic properties, coffee has long been recognized for its beneficial effects on health. Research has shown that it can reduce the risk of serious illnesses.

This is particularly the case for cancer or neurodegenerative disorders. On the other hand, there are specific recommendations. Indeed, moderate consumption, limited to two or three cups per day is preferable.

This is to avoid unwanted side effects such as anxiety or sleep disorders. In addition to these well-documented benefits, scientists have recently become interested in the correlation between the time of day when coffee is consumed and its impact on life expectancy.

On January 8, the European Society of Cardiology published a major study on this issue. American researchers analyzed data from 40,725 adults, collected as part of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey conducted between 1999 and 2018.

Their results reveal that drinking coffee between 4 a.m. and 11:59 a.m. offers significant benefits. “Morning drinkers” reduce their overall mortality risk by 16% and their heart disease mortality risk by 31%.

A moment to choose

On the other hand, be aware that those who consume coffee throughout the day or in the evening have a mortality rate comparable to that of people who do not drink coffee at all. These figures therefore show the importance of synchronizing your coffee consumption with the body's natural cycles.

And this, particularly with regard to the biological clock and hormonal regulation. Consuming coffee late or excessively during the day can disrupt the body's natural cycles.

This notably includes the internal clock. The latter influences essential functions such as sleep and digestion. As well as the regulation of certain hormones, such as melatonin.

A disruption of these mechanisms can have negative consequences on health. This increases the risk of developing chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension or persistent inflammation.

Better life expectancy

Additionally, the researchers revealed: “Drinking coffee in the morning may be more strongly associated with lower mortality risk than drinking coffee later in the day”. Morning therefore represents the ideal time to consume coffee.

This is because it coincides with a period when the body is naturally more receptive to caffeine. Upon waking, levels of the stress hormone cortisol remain high to boost energy. A cup of coffee taken within this time window acts as a complement.

This promotes alertness and boosts cognitive functions. On the other hand, if caffeine remains ingested in the afternoon or evening, it can disrupt sleep by delaying the production of melatonin. It is the hormone that regulates sleep cycles.

This leads to chronic fatigue and weakens immune functions, increasing the risk of inflammation-related diseases. To maximize the benefits of coffee, it is therefore advisable to consume it in the morning.
