“Road safety will remain a priority in 2025.” The prefect of Orne announced it again to the internal security forces to whom he presented his wishes this Friday, January 17, 2025 in the salons of the Orne prefecture.

“Too much risky behavior”

« In 2024, 27 people lost their lives on the roads of the Orne department, and already two since the start of this year. Too many accidents, caused by risky behavior or inappropriate behavior, can be avoided,” noted Sébastien Jallet who intends, this year, to deploy preventive actions but also controls “to sanction behavior dangerous or unsuitable.

The opportunity for the prefect to “welcome the action of the police services and gendarmerie units as well as the occasional reinforcements from the zonal motorcycle union of the CRS West, as was the case this week in the three National Police districts “.

29 offenses and six police custody

Indeed, twelve CRS bikers from Le Mans assisted the Orne police officers, from Monday January 13 to Friday January 17, 2025, with road checks.

“They operated in pairs on Alençon, Argentan and Flers and their municipalities bordering the Police zone and also intervened alongside the Police nationale of the department and the municipal police”, notes Renato Cavarelli, the departmental director of the National Police in Orne (DDPN 61).

In total, over these five days, 434 vehicles were checked in Orne by these twelve CRS. 252 offenses were recorded including 29 misdemeanors.

Six people were taken into custody following these checks. They are the subject of a summons before the criminal court.

Five new police officers

During his greetings to the internal security forces this Friday noon, the prefect of Orne also announced the assignment of five new police officers in Orne : three in Alençon and two in Flers. “We hoped for more but out of 300 files, this remains a good result for Orne,” rejoiced Sébastien Jallet.

Same satisfaction from DDPN 61: “We would have liked more but these mutations are already good. There is a real need in Orne so we are filling it with these arrivals.”
