Municipal and community councilor in Alès, the former first secretary of the PS Gardois and candidate for the legislative elections announced, in a press release, that he was withdrawing from his political and public activities.
It was through a press release, sent on Saturday January 11, that Arnaud Bord announced that he had decided to withdraw from his political and public activities.
“Political engagement is an intense commitment when you do it with passion, determination and conviction as I was able to do. After twenty years of trade unionism, fourteen years on the industrial tribunal, ten years of political activism, I feel the deep need to restore meaning to my daily action in my professional and personal life. he writes, adding: “The latest political events and the news of recent weeks have marked a real turning point for me. The spectacle is distressing both nationally and locally and so far from the reasons which built my commitment. Many are fighting for careers and no longer for ideas. This is not my idea. Never, after all these years of combat and commitment, have I felt so much hatred, violence, rejection for political opinions. Never have I felt so much division in our society which, on the contrary, in difficult times should form a nation. »
Arnaud Bord, 42, opposition municipal councilor in Alès and community councilor in Alès Agglomération, was once first secretary of the Gard socialist party. In 2020 and 2022, under the label of Nupes then the New Popular Front, he was nominated for the legislative elections in the fourth constituency of Gard, won twice by RN Pierre Meurin. If he remains a local elected official, he announces, on the other hand, that he will not be a candidate in the next municipal elections in Alès, nor even in the next elections of his party.
“I don’t know what tomorrow will bring, but I remain deeply socialist, humanist, secular, pacifist and feminist. I will now devote myself fully to my personal and professional life, which has long suffered from my political involvement”he concludes.
