After a failed season at Movistar, Rémi Cavagna decided to move on to Groupama-FDJ in 2025. In an interview with Eurosport, the “TGV of Clermont-Ferrand” spoke about its very complicated year 2024.
Remi Cavagna (29 years old) explained how he got “completely lost” during a “black year” chez Movistar and hopes to move forward with Groupama-FDJ. “2024 was the biggest failure of my career. It’s forgotten. Finding a team, which is French, reassures me. It takes a mental load off my shoulders”he confided to Eurosport.

Rémi Cavagna: “A chain of unfortunate circumstances in 2024”
The French rider looked back on his more than delicate 2024 season with no top 10 results, apart from a 4th place obtained on the French time trial championships. “It was a chain of bad circumstances. A vicious circle. I got lost. I forgot myself. When I looked at my time trial results… I had never done that in my career, declared Cavagna. (…) Cycling is so difficult, so demanding, that if your head doesn’t follow, you can’t perform well. It had an impact on my family life, my girlfriend, at home…”
Rémi Cavagna: “I want to find myself again”
The neo-member of Groupama-FDJ hopes to return to a level that will allow it to be competitive in 2025. “I want to find myself again. To rediscover this competitiveness, this enthusiasm, this desire. I want to do things again that I thought were impossible, escapes 100 miles from the finish.
