Cyclist Maxim Van Gils left Lotto Dstny to join Red Bull – Bora-Hansgrohe where he joined Primoz Roglic.

Last month, the news caused a stir. Maxim Van Gils had expressed the wish to quadruple his salary at Lotto Dstny, a request that the Belgian team was clearly not prepared to satisfy. In the impasse, the two parties ended up finding common ground: the outright termination of the contract. “I am grateful that after Maxim expressed his desire to change teams, his advisor, Stéphane Heulot and I handled the situation professionally. This is what made the transfer possible” declared Ralph Denk, the manager of Red Bull – Bora-Hansgrohe, telling us Cyclism’actu.

Because it's official since Monday, Maxim Van Gils has joined the German team, in return for financial compensation according to the same source. “I'm proud to attract interest from Red Bull – Bora-Hansgrohe. I felt a special connection with the team from the first moment. Now I want to work hard with them to achieve big goals. My adventure with the new colors begins tomorrow!” enthused the Belgian rider in the press release published by his new team. High ambitions for this 24-year-old boy, winner in 2024 of three successes on the Ruta del Sol, the Grand -Frankfurt Prize and the Grand Prix of the cantons of Aargau.

We could not be more active on the transfer market, Red Bull – Bora-Hansgrohe has also enlisted Jan Tratnik, Gianni Moscon, Oier Lazkano and Finn Fischer-Black. These beautiful people will form a beautiful armada around Primoz Roglic, already surrounded by big names such as Jai Hindley, Daniel Martinez, Florian Lipowitz and Aleksandr Vlasov.
