Olympic medalists in the spotlight

If no Frenchman is nominated in the men’s Vélo d’Or category, a Frenchwoman is among the ten nominated for women: Evita Muzic, fourth in the Tour de France and victorious in a stage of the Vuelta. But she will not be favorite against the winner of the Grande Boucle Katarzyna Niewiadoma, the world champion Lotte Kopecky or the Olympic champion Kristen Faulkner. Apart from the Vélos d’Or, other trophies will be awarded, notably the Eddy Merckx trophy for the best classics rider (Hirschi, Philipsen, Pogacar, Pedersen, Van der Poel) and the best female rider (Balsamo, Kopecky, Longo Borghini , Vos, Wiebes). In the Olympic year, a trophy will be awarded to the best runner at the Olympics. The French, generally not very present in these nominations, are guaranteed to leave with the Daniel Morelon trophy for the best French cyclist at the Olympics (André, Daudet, Ferrand-Prévôt, Koretzky, Thomas), the Bernard Hinault trophy for the best Frenchman on the road ( Bardet, Cosnefroy, Labous, Laporte, Martinez…) and the trophy for the best tricolor at the Paralympic Games, where the Blues won 28 medals (Bosredon, Gaugain, Jouanny, Leauté, Patouillet).
