Alexys Brunel back among the professionals in 2025

After stopping his professional cycling career for two seasons, Alexys Brunel will be back in the pelotons in 2025.

Alexys Brunel will return to the professional ranks in 2025. The former European Junior time trial champion has signed up with the TotalEnergies team and is returning to the high level, full of ambitions. The 25-year-old rider distinguished himself from his professional debut, notably winning a significant victory on a stage of the Étoile de Bessèges in 2020. In 2022, he chose to leave the peloton while he was wearing the UAE team jersey, reorienting itself towards the amateur world initially, before turning to triathlon then gravel in 2024.

Alexys Brunel :

“I am very happy to be back in the professional peloton, especially in a major French team like Team TotalEnergies. Following my experience in gravel, I found the desire to return to road competition. I am aware of the opportunity and this “second chance” that is being offered to me. Becoming a professional is hard, staying professional is another story. I am very grateful to the whole team and particularly the sports management. It’s a team that embodies offensiveness and collectiveness, two values that motivate me. This choice is thoughtful, after having moved away from the professional world for a while, without ever staying away from cycling, I have rediscovered the passion and pleasure of high level in recent years. I can’t wait to get back to the big races and give the best of myself for this season, for the leaders too. A big thank you to Jean-René Bernaudeau, Benoît Genauzeau and the team for their trust. I can’t wait to take on this new challenge! »
