Cyclists who have traveled all over the world, Thibault and Matthieu Jeannès are not short of ideas. On Sunday, September 22, they will organize in their stronghold of Saint-Yvi, in the village of Carn Grand, the first edition of the “Crititérium gravel cycles Jeannès”. “Following the creation of our club, we wanted to organize a race. It’s also a way of giving back what we’ve been given, it’s our turn to be organizers!”
This first is intended to be original since it will be a gravel race on a 2.5 km circuit including a 1.7 km stone path. “It’s quite unique, we haven’t found any trace of equivalent races. We will do as in the criteriums that we ran in the USA, the start will be given at 2:30 p.m. and it will be for 75 minutes of racing. We will announce the number of laps remaining 15 minutes before the finish” explains Thibault who will also be the speaker of this official FFC race.
A beautiful tray
If the entries are still open (10 €, registrations with the Jeannès brothers), the field already promises to be of high quality for this event bringing together men and women and making a good transition between the road and cyclo-cross seasons. “We will have the Brittany gravel champions, Tony Périou and Laura Porhel, but also pros like Baptiste Veistroffer and Célia Le Mouel.”
The limit is set at 80 riders. At 4:30 p.m., this gravel party will continue with an unofficial 40-minute event open to all. This first could lead to other events, as the Jeannès brothers do not intend to stop there…
