This Wednesday, the Décathlon-AG2R La Mondiale team announced that it had promoted five young riders to its World Tour squad, including Paul Seixas.

Decathlon-AG2R La Mondiale is strengthening its internal team. This Wednesday, the French cycling team officially announced the promotion of a total of five of its young riders to its World Tour squad, the top division of world cycling, starting in 2025. Among these five lucky ones, we find Frenchman Paul Seixas, considered one of the greatest hopes of French cycling. On Tuesday, September 24, Seixas will celebrate his 18th birthday. The young rider was already courted by many teams, after having more than shone among the youth teams. In 2024, the Frenchman already has no fewer than thirteen victories, including Liège-Bastogne-Liège juniors. Paul Seixas is thus burning the stages, since with this promotion in the World Tour squad of his team, he goes directly from the junior category to the professional category, without going through the hopeful category. This kind of journey was never done, or almost never, at a certain time, but it was done recently, by the Belgian Remco Evenepoel.

Seixas: “A childhood dream come true”

In the press release making the news official, Paul Seixas said: “I chose to stay loyal to the team because I have always liked the project and since I joined it in the cadet category, there has always been a good atmosphere and a superb organization. I wanted to continue the experience with the team at WorldTour level this time. It is important for me to remain loyal to the team that trained me. The team is offering me an incredible project, I had to take part. It’s a childhood dream come true. It’s a special feeling to enter the WorldTour, especially at 18 years old. It’s a show of confidence, and I’m very happy about it.” The other four young riders promoted are Léo Bisiaux, 19, Noa Isidore, 20, Australian Oscar Chamberlain, 19 and Dane Rasmus Sojberg Pedersen, 22.
