4082 tonnes produced in 2024 (ANRAC)

Monitoring and control operations carried out by ANRAC during the 2024 financial year showed that all activities relating to cannabis, undertaken by farmers and operators, comply with regulatory provisions.

The main actions undertaken during the year 2024 to respond to the strong support of farmers concerned in particular the establishment of regulatory procedures for the use of seeds of the local variety “Beldia”, the mobilization of financing offers in favor of small farmers and the organization of market prospecting missions and promotion of licit Moroccan cannabis products at the international level.

In 2025, ANRAC is committed to redouble its efforts to consolidate the actions undertaken and promote the initiatives required to structure the development of the cannabis sector within a legal framework which ensures farmers a secure and valued exercise of their activity and which guarantees operators optimal conditions of accessibility to international markets with the aim of contributing to the socio-economic development of the areas concerned by the regulations.

For the year 2024, ANRAC issued 3,371 authorizations out of a total of 4,158 authorization requests examined and processed.

These are 3,056 authorizations for the benefit of 2,907 farmers for the activity of cultivation and production of cannabis compared to 430 authorizations issued in 2023, and 315 authorizations for the benefit of 158 operators.

These 315 authorizations concern 77 authorizations for the processing activity, 83 authorizations for the marketing activity, 67 authorizations for the export activity, 35 authorizations for the seed import activity, 50 authorizations for the activity transport, 1 authorization for the activity of exporting seeds and 2 authorizations for the activity of creating and operating nurseries.

Regarding the 158 operators, they are divided between 35 cooperatives, 87 companies and 36 individuals.

For the 2024 campaign, ANRAC certified 7.6 million imported cannabis seeds on the basis of 30 import authorizations granted by the National Food Safety Office (ONSSA) to 21 importers.

ANRAC also authorized the use of 1,717 Qx of “Beldia” seeds on the basis of the 112 authorizations for the use of these seeds granted by ONSSA to 112 cooperatives.

For 2024, the Agency also recorded the planting of 2,169 Ha of legal cannabis by 2,647 farmers grouped into 189 cooperatives. These are 1,701 Ha sown with the local variety “Beldia” by 1,767 farmers grouped into 109 cooperatives, and 468 Ha sown with imported varieties by 880 farmers grouped into 80 cooperatives.

Legal cannabis production in 2024 amounts to 4,082.4 tonnes, with an average yield of 20 Qx/Ha. It is distributed between 2,786.7 Tons from the Beldia variety with an average yield of 17 Qx/Ha and 1,295.7 Tons from imported varieties with an average yield of 28 Qx/Ha.
