are you affected by the new vaccination campaign?

The new vaccination campaign against Covid-19 will begin on Tuesday October 15, 2024 for mainland as well as for Guadeloupe, and Guyana. This launch comes as the circulation of the virus has been on the rise since September 2024, notably due to the XEC variant, a sub-line of Omicron.

The fall campaign, which will continue until January 31, 2025, will take place in parallel with that against the flu and will allow certain people to receive both vaccines at the same time, indicates actu.fr .

The High Authority for Health (HAS) recommends this vaccination mainly to vulnerable people. Among them, people aged 65 and over, the immunocompromised, pregnant women, as well as residents of nursing homes and long-term care units. Health professionals and those in regular contact with vulnerable people are also invited to be vaccinated, specifies the Health Insurance website.

Maintaining barrier gestures

The vaccine used during this campaign will be Comirnaty JN.1 from Pfizer/BioNTech, a messenger RNA vaccine specifically adapted to the currently dominant variant. According to the authorities, this vaccine helps restore optimal protection against severe forms of the disease, protection which diminishes over time. It is recommended to receive a dose six months after the last injection or infection, a period reduced to three months for those over 80 and the immunocompromised.

Vaccination is free and 100% covered for everyone. It can be administered by various healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists and midwives. At the same time, the authorities recalled the importance of maintaining barrier gestures, especially in the event of symptoms: wearing a mask, regular hand washing and limiting contact with vulnerable people.
